Carlos Trevez is apparently pondering whether to sue his manager at Manchester City, Roberto Mancini, as the row between the player and club took another twist.
Tevez was hit with a misconduct charge and four-week club fine by City on Tuesday, said to be around £1million, after they found him guilty of five breaches of contract.
This all follows a lengthy and detailed internal inquiry into his apparent refusal to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last month. Those following the Betfair betting will know how long the saga has been going on for.
The row has escalated in recent weeks and shows no sign of abating amid the latest reports that suggest the Argentinian is considering suing Mancini for defamation of character.
The striker is believed to be taking legal advice over the charges levelled against him as well as Mancini’s post-match comments in Munich in which he said the former Manchester United star was “finished” at City.
Tevez has 14 days to respond to the charges – with the early indications being that he will appeal – before he may then even take his case to a Premier League tribunal.
Tevez was suspended by City for two weeks but is theoretically available for selection after serving that ban although a return to the first-team looks extremely improbable following his fall out with Mancini. Those looking at the Euro 2012 betting will probably be hoping the whole thing is sorted soon.
Tevez still hopes to seal a move away from City in January but the Premier League leaders will not allow him to leave on the cheap despite the ongoing problems.
