Indoor sports clubs have increased in popularity greatly over the last few years as people become more concerned about keeping fit and losing weight. Many people are now turning to indoor sports as a more sociable and fun way to train, with the ability to go with friends or family to work out with in an atmosphere that allows a full integration of ages and abilities. Other fitness sites such as gyms do not allow the same freedom and families are not able to all train at the same time, this can even happen in swimming pools, where it is usually either a “family” time or “adult” time and both can be as disruptive to family bonding. Indoor football is known as futsal, futsal began in Uruguay in 1930 and was developed in Brazil where a rule book was published for the indoor sport. As futsal grew over South America it developed and in 1971 futsal had it’s own governong body which was called Federación Internacional de Fútbol de Salón (FIFUSA). The next stage of the growing indoor sport was having its own World Championships; the first hosts Brazil were also the first futsal world champions. [Read more...]
